Space

The space sector faces many challenges due to the extreme conditions products are exposed to.

It's all about weight

Rasei's work within the space sector

The implementation of graphene infused conductive composites has multiple potential applications within the space sector. Weight is an incredibly important consideration for any space based ventures and utilising Rasei’s technology would create a large decrease in the weight of any product.

Rasei is currently researching the potential of conductive composites for use in satellite laboratories and exploring the effects of the environmental conditions such as thermal cycling and UV radiation exposure as experienced in microgravity. We are collaborating with UK based satellite laboratory experts Frontier Space Technologies on this exciting new venture. Our combined aim is to establish if a graphene-based composite will conduct successfully in space, presenting a number of advantages to using the advance material over traditional materials.

  • Reduction in overall weight of satellites.

  • Reduction in launch cost due to lower weight.

  • Conducting of signals across the material in space environments.

  • Creation of a heating surface because of signal conductivity, resulting in a lack of need for additional heating components.

Utilising graphene-based conductive composites in this way is just one of many potential avenues that we are exploring and hoping to explore in the future. This technology has multiple applications and advantages that make it suitable for the future of space exploration and experimentation.

At Rasei we are constantly looking for market leading partnerships and collaborations that will enable us to deploy our technologies and work with our partners on their own projects. We continue to have the capacity to expand our ventures within the space sector alongside our continuing work with existing partners. If you are a space technologies company looking for conductive innovation and lightweight solutions, or you are interested in being involved in projects such as the example above, please get in touch and see how we can assist your requirements.
